Highlighting the achievements of Nigerian and African American women in the arts, the Public Affairs Section screened a documentary about Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth Carter followed by a panel discussion with local artists Ifeoluwa Abhulimen and Hauwa Mahmoud, alumnae of the U.S. Embassy-sponsored “Upcycling Redefined Workshop” in Abuja.

Citing Ruth Carter’s inspirational design work in Hollywood film, Ifeoluwa and Hauwa artists shared their thoughts on art as both entrepreneurship and a means to raise environmental awareness.

Cultural Affairs Officer Madison Conoley moderated the American Film Club discussion and thanked the International Institute for Creative Development (IICD) Center and Transcorp Hilton for their support.
