The United States government wants all candidates in the 2019 elections in Nigeria to honour the peace accord they signed as INEC announces official results.
U.S. ambassador to Nigeria Stuart Symington said this in a statement in Abuja.
Symington congratulated the millions of Nigerians who stood patiently in long lines to vote and those who worked with INEC to conduct the elections.
He said as noted by many observer groups, the election was predominantly peaceful, and it is a proof of the people’s resolute commitment to choose their leaders.
The envoy however expressed the U.S. deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives to the elections.
