UNN 1st class student commits suicide

A 1st class student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN Chukwuemeka Akachi, has committed suicide after dropping a suicide note on Facebook.

The 21-year-old final year student of English and Literary Studies died yesterday after leaving a suicide note and shared on Facebook, his long battle with mental health and how it had affected his growth.

There were divergent responses to his suicide note, while many prayed he finds rest, others thought he should have explored other options instead of taking is life.

Classmate alleged that this is Akachi’s 3rd suicide attempt and he had suffered depression for many years.

His Facebook walls revealed his persistent thought of committing suicide but there was little indication to show that he was taken seriously.

On Tuesday, a young man identified as Segun attempted suicide by drinking a poisonous substance believed to be the pesticide, Sniper.

The took to Twitter to alert his followers about his suicidal thoughts by stating that he was going to show them how to make tea using Sniper.

According to him, he was going to commit suicide because things didn’t go well with his JAMB result.
