Chelsea have finally agreed a loan move with Atletico Madrid for Saul Niguez before the close of the transfer window.
Chelsea have been chasing the 26-year-old Spain international with Atletico Madrid making the deal difficult for the Champions League holders.
But with just a few hours left of the summer transfer window, an agreement has been reached and the player is set to move to Stamford Bridge on loan with an option to buy next year.
Transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano said that a fee of €5m (£4.3m) has been agreed for the season-long loan.
Niguez’s contract at Atletico Madrid expires in the summer of 2026 but has fallen slightly out of favour under Diego Simeone.
The midfielder still started the first two La Liga games of the season for Atletico, but only came on as a substitute in the third.
