Singer and songwriter, Inetimi Timaya Odon, who is popularly known by his stage name Timaya, has announced that his new single, EFF All Day, a collaboration with Penthauze Records boss, Phyno will drop tomorrow.
The Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa or Plantain Boy, as he is also called, made this known on Tuesday, August 10, via his Instagram handle, when he wrote: “EFF ALL DAY ft @phynofino 15–8–21. Let’s go.”
The single, which will be released via his DM Records Limited, will be his first since his last album, Gratitude. The new song will also mark his first collaboration with Phyno since their 2017 project entitled Telli Person.
Timaya’s solo career began in 2005 with the release of Dem Mama, which also appeared on his debut album, True Story released the following year. His second album Gift and Grace was released in 2008. He gained further visibility and international prominence through his third studio album De Rebirth — released in partnership with Black Body Entertainment — and its lead single Plantain Boy. Both were commercially successful.
In 2012, Timaya released Upgrade, which spawned hits like Bum Bum, Sexy Ladies, and Malonogede. In 2014, he released his fifth studio album, titled Epiphany, a 20-tracker with global hits such as Sanko, Ukwu and Bum Bum Remix, featuring dancehall star Sean Paul.
The album also featured 2Baba, Patoranking, Olamide, Sir Shina Peters, Deethi, Phyno and Terry G. In 2017, he performed in Nassau, Bahamas, where he headlined the first ever Afro-Soca Concert.
After five years of releasing singles, and touring, Timaya released an EP titled Chulo Vibes (2019). This project featured collaborations with East African artiste, Alikiba, Trinidadian Soca Legend Machel Montano and Nigeria’s Grammy award winner, Burna Boy.
To date, his work has earned him notable awards and nominations, including four Headies Awards, two AFRIMMA Awards, one Nigeria Music Award and an NEA Award.
