NDLEA arrests 127 suspects, convicts 34 in Adamawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Adamawa  State  says it arrested 127  offenders, with 34 convicted in 2019, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

According to the commander of the body in the state, Alhaji Idris Bello in Yola on Saturday, the suspects were 125 males and two females, while the 34 convicts were all males aged between 18-50.

Bello said, “In the year under review, a total of 605.555kg  of assorted drugs were seized by the command. The seized items included cannabis (313.342kg) and psychotropic substances (292.213 kg).”

“The command also made first-time, exceptional seizure of five cartons of Pentazocine injections which weighed 21kg. The command, in its efforts to tackle the trend of drug abuse, also organised 40 Drug Abuse Preventive Education lectures in its community outreach programmes across the state.’’
