English league giant, Manchester United who yesterday announced the departure of Jose Mourinho in his third season following a disgraceful defeat at Anfield, has accidentally confirmed the appointment of Ole Solskjaer as interim manager.

In a quickly-deleted post on the club’s official website, United confirmed the Norwegian’s appointment as caretaker boss.

The club had posted; “Solskjaer becomes our interim manager, 20 years after clinching the Treble with THAT goal at Camp Nou. ” It appears to confirm the poorly kept secret that the 45-year-old will become caretaker manager at his former club.

The 45-year-old signed a new three-year deal at Norwegian club Molde at the start of December, extending his second spell at a club he rejoined after an ill-fated spell at the helm of Saturday’s opponents Cardiff.

However, Brown believes Solskjaer would get the smiles back on the faces of Manchester United fans.

“I never knew another professional like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer,” Brown wrote for the Daily Mail.

“If he is appointed caretaker manager until the end of the season he will put a smile back on the face of Manchester United fans.

“He gets the club and everything that comes with it. Sure, he didn’t have the greatest success at Cardiff but Manchester United have world class players and he is a man who takes everything in, who learns to get stronger.

“When you consider the time he used to spend on the bench then come on to score, not just one or two but four goals, his concentration levels, his will power, was like no other.

“United had great strikers then and he knew the standard required to get into that team.

“As Sir Alex Ferguson used to say it always starts with hard work. That’s what he will instil in the current players and will stand him in good stead coming back to Manchester United.

“Ole has coached some of these players, including Paul Pogba, before when he was United’s reserve team manager.

“It may seem strange to some that he should give up Molde for a job until the end of the season but this is a fantastic platform and he’ll want to prove he is a better manager now.”
