Fulani Herdsmen Kill 20 In Fresh Kajuru Attack

At least 20 persons have been reported killed in a fresh attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in Angwan Aku village, Kajuru Local government area of Kaduna state.

Information from the community shows that the attack took place at about 7:00am on Monday.

Eyewitnesses said that the attackers were dressed in military uniform and armed with AK47 rifles, machetes and sticks.

The assailants in army fatigue suddenly stormed the unsuspecting village and started shooting sporadically.

Many more reportedly sustained gunshot injuries besides the 20 dead victims.

“As they shot sporadically, some of us escaped into the bush. The attackers were in military uniforms and bullet-proof vests,” a source told Punch .

The source added that the police came into the village in eight Hilux vans but could not enter the bush to fish out the attackers.

According to him, there had been speculation of attack on the village but no effort was made to nip it in the bud.

A former President of the Adara Development Association, Danladi Yarima, confirmed the killings.

While condemning the killings, he accused the Governor Nasir el-Rufai of bias in the manner he had been handling the crisis in the area.

The state police command is yet to confirm the attack or issue a press statement as of the time of filing this report
