The Director General, FCT Emergency Management Agency, Alh. Abbas Idriss has alerted residents of the Federal Capital Territory to expect more rain fall before the secession of the current raining season, he made this known during an exclusive chat with the press yesterday.

According to the Director General “Lugbe Trade More Estate is one of the notorious areas for flooding in the FCT, from records, we have discovered that buildings are erected without the appropriate engineering design, in violation of the master plan of the Federal Capital Territory”.

Alh. Idriss Abbas warned that there is more to come from the raining season if caution is not taken.

“There is expert prediction that we are going to have more down pour before the secession of this current raining season; we are expecting river flooding, we don’t know which side it is going to take and a lot of infractions are happening along that (Trade More Estate) axis”.

The DG advised occupants of buildings at Trademore estate to relocate to other places to avert any further loss of life and properties, he also used the opportunity to call on relevant authorities to clamp down on property development defaulters for necessary penalties as well as demolition of buildings erected on flood plains.

“Anybody who violates the law should be dealt with as it serves as deterrent to others; it is very critical for us to save one life than to protect one thousand houses’’ He summed.

It may be recalled that earlier in the week the unfortunate event of a devastating flood claimed four lives and destroyed properties worth over three hundred million naira in Lugbe’s Trade More Estate.
