The senator representing Plateau North in the National Assembly, Istifanus Gyang, on Sunday confirmed the abduction of one of his constituents, Miss Lillian Gyang, by members of Boko Haram.
Gyang said the victim, a 100-level student of the University of Maiduguri, who hails from the Barikin Ladi Council Area of Plateau State, was returning to school when the terrorists abducted her at a village near Maiduguri.
The senator, who said this in a statement by his media aide, Mr Musa Ashoms, on Sunday, lamented that Daniel was the third abducted victim from Plateau State being held hostage by the insurgents.
The statement said, “Senator Istifanus Gyang of Plateau North Senatorial District is saddened by the abduction of three Nigerians from Plateau State by Boko Haram.”
“The latest case is that of 20-year-old Lilian Gyang, a 100-level student of Zoology, University of Maiduguri, who hails from Foron District, Barkin Ladi LGA, abducted by Boko Haram on Thursday, January 9, 2020, on her way to school for resumption at a location close to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.”
“The senator notes that this ugly development comes on the heels of an earlier one, the abduction of Jennifer Ukambong Samuel, 26, a health worker from Makoli village in Gashish District, on December 22, 2019.”
“Another victim being held hostage by Boko Haram from Plateau State is Abdulhamid Bashir, a health worker from the Kanam LGA.”
The lawmaker appealed to government and the international community to quickly intervene and hasten the release and safe return of the abductees.
