Federal lawmaker, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce from Bayelsa State has said that Nigeria cannot run away from the revolution of electric cars.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja a day after his colleagues in the red chamber rejected his bills, Bruce said he wasn’t really surprised by their action pointing out that his bill was only to ensure that Nigeria was not left behind in the revolution and become a laughing stock in the comity of nations.
Bruce said the argument that Nigeria being an oil producing country should not encourage the use of electric cars would amount to nothing by the time its oil becomes worthless.
Bruce’s argument seems to support climate change campaign.
He said what he proposed was a clean and cheaper energy source and a future Nigeria can plan for today to save itself over N1 trillion currently spent on fuel.
On the his bill seeking right of return for Africans to become Nigerian citizen, the senator said he was completely misunderstood.
